Jennalyn's Mabuhay Adventures (Book Series)

Jennalyn’s Mabuhay Adventures is a heart-centered children’s book series that celebrates Filipino identity, cultural pride, and the joy of discovery through the eyes of a young Filipina traveler . Written for children and families around the world, this twelve-book series follows Jennalyn as she journeys across the Philippines to connect with her heritage, explore the meaning of Mabuhay, and experience the beauty, diversity, and values that define Filipino culture.

Jennalyn is a Mestiza, a term that reflects her mixed nationality—Filipino and American—representing many children growing up between cultures. As a U.S.-born Filipina, her perspective mirrors the lived experiences of diaspora families (Refers to a large group of people who share a cultural and regional origin but are living away from their traditional homeland.) who seek belonging, understanding, and pride in their roots. Through her travels, Jennalyn learns that identity is not limited to geography but is shaped by family, stories, values, and shared traditions passed down through generations.

Throughout the series, Jennalyn explores islands, cities, villages, oceans, and mountains, meeting elders, making friends, and discovering iconic Filipino wildlife along the way. She is joined by her loyal sidekick, Shaka the Turtle, whose name was inspired by a recent trip to Hawaii and reflects the shared love for the Hawaiian shaka gesture and aloha spirit—while firmly honoring Filipino pride and identity. The stories thoughtfully weave together Filipino values such as Mabuhay (the joy of living), Bayanihan (community spirit), respect for elders, gratitude, resilience, and cultural pride. Tagalog words and phrases are naturally introduced in each book, encouraging young readers to learn language through story and connection.

The series releases one book per month, creating anticipation and continuity for readers. Each book stands on its own while contributing to a cohesive exploration of Filipino culture, traditions, food, celebrations, folklore, and everyday life across the Philippines.

Here’s a revised version that introduces Mabuhay Innovations first, clearly positioning it as the source for the party favors, and then flows naturally into the experiential offerings and outreach:

Beyond storytelling, Jennalyn’s Mabuhay Adventures expands into joyful, interactive experiences through Mabuhay Innovations, the creative brand founded by author Janet Morante. Through Mabuhay Innovations, families will be able to order matching themed party favors for each book, including lollipops, cupcake picks, buttons, banners, and stickers—making it easy to host a child’s Filipino pride celebration that aligns with each story’s theme. Additional product offerings are in development, including stuffed animals, craft projects, and creative activity kits designed to deepen engagement and cultural learning.

The series is supported by community-centered outreach and cultural celebration. The books will be promoted at local Filipino-related festivals and events, where readers can purchase pasalubong—traditional Filipino souvenirs—such as the special tote bag Jennalyn gifts her friends at the end of Book One, Mabuhay: The Aloha of the Philippines. These moments reinforce the series’ message of generosity, connection, and shared joy.

Jennalyn’s Mabuhay Adventures is more than a book series—it is a celebration of heritage, creativity, and cultural pride, inviting children and families everywhere to embrace Mabuhay as both a greeting and a way of life.
